Job Summary
Attend to the daily well-being of students, manage chronic medical conditions like diabetes and asthma, and provide daily medications. Administer first aid and emergency care by triaging situations, communicating with parents and administration, and updating medical records. Consult with students, faculty, staff, and parents on health concerns while staying current on city, district, and state policies. Report student health statuses to administration and assist in reporting communicable diseases. Make recommendations on health and safety practices as needed. This role covers planned and occasional same-day absences at Francis W. Parker School, a JK-12 independent day school, with a starting rate of $35 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse License
- Current CPR Certification
- Prior experience working in a school environment or with children
- Ability to operate various diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
- Ability to relate well with students, staff, and public
- Ability to competently work with software such as Google Docs and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to learn new charting software to document medication administration, collect medical forms, troubleshoot parent questions, etc
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
