Job Summary
Oversee student activities during regular school sessions and after hours by supervising recreation, lunch periods, and study halls. Guide children safely across streets and intersections while maintaining order in gymnasiums, locker rooms, and swimming pools. Assist teachers and administrators with routine tasks, including issuing athletic supplies, helping younger students with apparel, and supporting bus drivers with boarding and departure. Enforce school regulations with firmness while remaining courteous to students and staff under direct supervision. Requires high school graduation or four years of experience in child care. This substitute position operates within a suburban school district in Erie County.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
- Four (4) years experience in the care and supervision of children
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)
- Ability to establish good relationships and get along well with children
- Ability to maintain order and to enforce school regulations with firmness
- Ability to get along with teachers, administrators, and others
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Good power of observation
- Dependability
- Neat personal appearance
- Tact
- Courtesy
- Good judgment
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
- Undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check prior to appointment
