Job Summary
The role is a Substitute School Bus Operator for Hardy County Schools. The position requires a West Virginia CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement, completion of the WV School Bus Safety Program, CPR/First Aid certification, and successful passing of online and skills tests. The incumbent must be at least 21 years old, have a minimum of three years of driving experience, and submit to a medical examination, background check, and drug/alcohol screening. Start date for the 2026-2027 school year with salary based on the 2026-2027 salary scale. This role is in-person with Hardy County Schools, Moorefield, WV, and is subject to district policies and anti-discrimination guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Criminal background check pursuant to W. Va. Code §18-5-15c, et seq.
- Meet the definition of "Qualifications" pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8b
- Demonstrate competency pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8e as required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have at least three (3) years of driving experience as a licensed operator of any vehicle
- Must obtain and maintain a West Virginia CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsement
- Must successfully complete the West Virginia School Bus Safety Program and pass all requisite online and skills tests
- Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification
- Complete all required county and WVDE trainings
- Must pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- Subject to drug and alcohol screenings
