Job Summary
Provide assistance to general and special education students during bus transport to and from school, freeing the driver to operate safely. Physically assist special education children on and off the bus, manage wheel chair securement, and attend to behavioral needs while monitoring physical problems. Support the bus driver with safety inspections, cleaning duties, and ensuring student safety during evacuation drills. Communicate with dispatchers and field supervisors via radio, assist with route directions, and complete mandatory operational reports and incident referrals. Learn student names and pickup/drop-off locations to support substitute drivers.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a high school education or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities working with children
