Job Summary
Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity using provided curriculum. Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging while supporting students in making positive behavior choices. Implement and assist in creating lesson plans to engage children and youth. Ensure student safety by managing roll calls, reviewing sign-in/out logs, and maintaining clean, orderly school sites. Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students in accordance with child safety guidelines. Identify student needs and communicate them to site coordinators, teachers, administration, parents, and volunteers. Commit to a full-year program with daily attendance between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Participate in staff development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with young children
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Proof of graduation from High School or G.E.D.
- 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units
- Passing an Instructional Aide Test
- Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting
- Availability at least 5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
- Passing Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting)
- Providing a clear TB test
- Passing Advanced Math and English skills (K – 8) testing
