Job Summary
Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity using provided curriculum. Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging while supporting students in making positive behavior choices. Engage children and youth by implementing lesson plans and assisting in their creation. Ensure student safety by maintaining site cleanliness, taking roll, and reviewing sign-in/sign-out logs. Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students in accordance with child safety guidelines. Identify student needs and communicate them to the Site Coordinator, teachers, administration, parents, and volunteers. Commit to a full-year program by arriving on-time daily and completing time cards. Participate in staff development activities. Must be available at least three days a week between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with young children
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Proof of graduation from High School or G.E.D.
- 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units
- Passing an Instructional Aide Test
- Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting
- Availability at least 3 days a week (Monday-Friday)
- Passing Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting)
- Providing a clear TB test
- Passing Advanced Math and English skills (K – 8) testing
