Job Summary
A substitute teacher is responsible for enabling each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his or her regular teacher. Duties include carrying out the regular teacher’s lesson plans, providing instructional reinforcement for individuals or small groups, supervising students in various school settings, attending to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, and ensuring safety. The role requires modeling Gospel values, adherence to Catholic school policies and the Archdiocese’s codes of conduct, maintaining confidentiality of information, collaboration with school personnel, and using approved discipline procedures. Must uphold the mission of Catholic education, support academic programming, and be a team member contributing to a faith-based school environment. The position is temporary and aligned with school needs; the Archdiocese of San Antonio is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year substituting or teaching experience preferred
- License and Credentials: Valid driver license; reliable transportation; valid vehicle insurance
