Job Summary
Assist classroom teachers with instruction, activities, and supervision while providing one-on-one or small-group support to students, including those with special needs. Implement accommodations and modifications as directed, help students with daily tasks like organization and transitions, and supervise learners in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, or during arrival and dismissal. Maintain a safe, respectful environment by following lesson plans, behavior plans, and safety protocols while communicating effectively with staff and documenting observations. This on-call, part-time role offers flexible scheduling and potential pathways to long-term opportunities or other school-based positions.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)
- Clean criminal background checks
- Ability to work with children in a patient, supportive, and professional manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classrooms and student needs
- Physical ability to assist students as needed (e.g., mobility support, classroom tasks)
- Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children, especially in educational or childcare settings
- Prior experience supporting students with disabilities
