Job Summary
Paraeducator – Instructional; provide instructional support, tutor individual or small groups, monitor and assist students, reinforce learning activities, help maintain safe learning environments, prepare instructional materials, manage student records, operate educational media, administer and score tests, and follow district policies. Requires First Aid/CPR/AED, state paraeducator certifications, ESSA criteria (AA or higher, or 72 credits, or approved test or apprenticeship), fingerprint clearance, I-9 compliance, and related trainings; bilingual/ESL capabilities and Spanish proficiency preferred for certain roles. Position is a substitute/temporary paraeducator role under the Monroe district, with duties aligned to supporting instructional personnel and student learning across programs such as ESL, Vocation Programs, and Bi-Literate paraeducators.
Required Qualifications
- First Aid, CPR and AED certification
- Completion of all state required paraeducator certifications
- I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
- HIV/HBV training (within 60 days of hire)
- Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, boundary invasions, fights, substance abuse etc.
- OSPI approved test (one of the criteria)
- Completion of approved apprenticeship program
- Possess or have completed AA or higher degree from a college or university
- Two years college with 72 college credits accrued (alternative ESSA criteria)
