Job Summary
Provide academic assistance, social adjustment, and skill instruction to diverse students across multiple school buildings under classroom teacher supervision. Assist with daily routines, arrival/departure, lunchroom duties, and playground supervision while modeling flexibility, enthusiasm, and patience. Manage developmental behaviors using positive reinforcement techniques and follow directions for instruction and material preparation. Maintain confidentiality and positive relationships with students, parents, and staff while working as part of a team or with individuals/groups. Work medium to long distances in hallways, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds, including assisting with wheelchair transfers. Use office equipment like computers and fax machines as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Flexible

- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to multi-task and follow directions
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems
- Ability to stand more than half the time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness and ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to reach, bend and squat
- Willingness to use positive reinforcement techniques and appropriate guidance techniques to assist in managing developmental behavior throughout the school routine including transition times, and activities redirection
- Willingness to work well as part of a team, and also ability to work with individuals, small and large groups
- Maintaining and respecting confidentiality in accordance with District rules and regulations
- Maintaining positive interpersonal skills with students, parents and staff
- Good communication and organizational skills
