Job Summary
Conduct a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs at designated school sites. Assist with food item preparation, student helper supervision, and all kitchen functions including receiving, storing, and cleaning. Prepare appropriate quantities of meals by reading recipes and following USDA meal patterns while operating kitchen equipment and maintaining food temperatures. Handle daily cash records, manage inventory, and perform other assigned tasks such as ordering supplies to maintain an organized work environment. Work on an on-call basis with flexible shifts during the 2025-2026 school year.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Washington State Health Card
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Ability to use kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation rules
- Complete knowledge of Snohomish County and Washington State food safety, sanitation and proper temperatures including HAACP
- Ability to maintain updated knowledge of school policies and procedures that affect the school nutrition services program and this position
- Ability to participate in job related training
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents
- Ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions
- Ability to do math calculations and make correct change at a high school level
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to be flexible in meeting deadlines
- Ability to correctly and safely lift up to 35 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- ServSafe certification
- Previous experience in the food industry
- Vocational training in the food service industry
