Job Summary
Conduct general cleaning to meet health standards, including sanitizing restrooms, emptying waste, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming carpets. Maintain facility security by checking for unauthorized occupants and cleaning exterior areas by removing debris, snow, and ice from walks and driveways. Perform minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs and resupplying inventory, while operating equipment like auto scrubbers and pressure washers. Set up and remove furniture for events and respond to emergency trouble calls. Work variable shifts including mornings, evenings, and nights on an on-call basis.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment to include but not limited to: broom, mop, squeegee, hand power tools, auto scrubber, buffer, pressure washer, vacuum, carpet extractor, gas/electric blower, etc.
- Ability to read, write, perform basic math problems
- Ability to read, interpret and follow written and verbal instructions including service orders, emails, labels on chemicals and supplies, etc.
- Physical ability to perform manual work associated with custodial duties including lifting 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate basic computer systems including Microsoft programs, Kronos, Sonitrol, etc.
- Skill and ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to develop positive relationships with others
- Any combination equivalent to completion of high school
- Successful completion of custodial knowledge tests
- Available for one, or more, of the following work shifts: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.; and/or 6:00 p.m. - 2:30 a.m.
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year experience or training in custodial or related fields
- Previous experience with custodial and/or maintenance of a school facility
