Job Summary
Report to the assigned work location and receive daily assignments from the Building Principal, Custodial Manager, or Director of Maintenance. Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gyms, and libraries by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, and sanitizing surfaces. Operate custodial equipment safely, handle cleaning chemicals according to regulations, and perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs. Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, athletic events, and performances. Secure buildings at the end of the shift by locking doors and report any maintenance, safety, or security concerns immediately. Maintain a safe work environment by following all District safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated aptitude for custodial, cleaning, or general maintenance work
- Ability to read and write sufficiently to perform assigned duties
- Ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor throughout the workday
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment, hand tools, and cleaning equipment
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established procedures
- Ability to recognize and report maintenance, safety, and security concerns
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, administrators, and the public
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while completing assigned tasks efficiently
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing assignments
- Must frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to seventy-five (75) pounds
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, reach, lift, push, pull, carry, and use repetitive hand, arm, and other body movements
- Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
