Job Summary
Follow all plans and instructions provided by the counselor/social worker, assuming responsibility for assigned duties to support students' social, emotional, and physical needs through classroom, small group, and individual work. Foster a positive attitude by communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds while maintaining a safe environment. Demonstrate effective classroom management, complete necessary paperwork timely, and utilize human relations skills to work collaboratively within the school and district. Communicate with the regular counselor via telephone or writing, and adhere to the schedule, hours, and on-call rotation as assigned. Required Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Washington State ESA certificate as Counselor or Social Worker
- Ability to commit to and be flexible within the full long-term substitute assignment
Desired Qualifications
- Successful substitute experience preferred
- Preferred knowledge/experience working in areas of: substance abuse prevention/intervention, child abuse, ADD/ADHD, suicide prevention/intervention, violence prevention education (Second Step), parent support and education, and anger management
