Job Summary
Under general supervision is responsible for reviewing weekly inventory orders and menus for schools, gathering and counting all items according to orders, and hauling food and foodservice products needed at schools on specified route each day. Essential functions include reviewing weekly orders from schools, gathering correct amounts, delivering to delivery sites, recording temperatures on production records, communicating with foodservice staff, performing preventive maintenance on the truck, keeping records up to date, working in freezers or stock rooms, promoting food safety and cleanliness, loading/unloading trucks, participating in in-service training, maintaining professional behavior, and pursuing skill upgrades as directed by the Director Child Nutrition and/or Cafeteria Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a current Ohio County Health Department Food Handler's Card
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for School Cook
- Complete the OCS Defensive Driving Course
- Show evidence of the ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Be able to perform record keeping tasks as required
- Have considerable knowledge in the standard practices and methods of food safety and truck hauling of transports
- Be able to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions in a fast-paced environment
