Job Summary
Provide instruction and guidance to students in the absence of the regular teacher. Follow lesson plans to ensure continuity of learning while maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment. Implement classroom management strategies, adapt teaching methods for individual student needs, and collaborate with staff to support success. Provide feedback to regular teachers regarding student progress. Complete all training required by TEA. This role requires an 8-hour day shift from Monday to Friday, with on-call availability at 6 AM. Candidates must pass a background check and hold CPR certification. Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong writing, reading and communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain discipline
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different grade levels and subject areas
- Physical ability to remain active for up to 8 hours consecutively
- Ability to kneel, crouch, or sit comfortably
- Visually and audibly able to monitor the classrooms and students and navigate for emergencies
- Physical ability to perform CPR
- Ability to move swiftly in emergency situations
- Ability to go and get fingerprints taken and placed in the system
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, tutoring, or related fields
- Familiarity with math, literacy education, and lesson planning
- Experience working with students of various ages and abilities, including preschool and special education students
- Prior experience working with students in an educational setting
- Higher education in education or related field
