Job Summary
Operates school buses safely under all types of weather conditions and transports students and other authorized persons on regular and special program trips to and from school, as well as extracurricular activities. Requires a high school diploma or GED, five years of licensed driving experience, and a Washington CDL Class B with endorsements along with school bus driver authorization. CPR and First Aid certifications, background checks (fingerprinting), I-9 eligibility, and HIV/HBV training completed within required timeframes are required. Responsibilities include strict adherence to federal/state laws and district regulations, mandatory reporting of incidents, maintain confidentiality, regular punctual attendance, completing route sheets and trip records, loading/unloading students, assisting with wheelchair lifts, and effective communication with parents and staff. Performs pre-trip inspections, ensures safety, and complies with the collective bargaining agreement and district policies. Requires ability to operate in varied conditions, lift and assist students, and work with a diverse student population; overtime may be required. Location: Monroe, Washington with on-site (in-person) duties as part of the district transportation team.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle
- Washington State driver’s license; Class B CDL with appropriate endorsements
- School bus driver authorization
- Obtain and maintain CPR and first aid qualifications
- I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
- HIV/HBV training (within 60 days of hire date)
- Human Resources new hire training (within 60 days of hire date)
