Job Summary
Operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules, picking up and dropping off students safely and on time. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance. Maintain order and ensure student safety during transport while communicating with school staff and transportation supervisors as needed. This role requires strict adherence to traffic laws, district policies, and safety protocols in the absence of regular drivers. Candidates must possess a valid NYS Class B CDL with "P" and "S" endorsements, be at least 21 years of age, and complete required training.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet the Chautauqua County Civil Service requirements.
- Possession, at time of appointment and during service in this classification, of a valid NYS Class B CDL with 'P' and 'S' endorsements.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and complete training requirements specified by the NYS Department of Education pursuant to 8 NYCRR Education (A) Part 156.
- Clean driving record and successful completion of required training.
- Ability to manage student behavior calmly and effectively.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and professional.
