Job Summary
Part-time substitute bus driver for Abilene Public Schools in Abilene, KS. Responsibilities include providing clean, safe, and reliable transportation for students, ensuring all activities conform to state school transportation guidelines, communicating and cooperating with the school district and community, adapting to changes and deadlines, operating buses and equipment, and following district health, safety, and transportation policies. Requires CDL with endorsements, Defensive Driving, CPR and First Aid certification, at least one year of driving experience, and completion of behind-the-wheel training. Physical requirements include prolonged sitting and ability to drive, with readiness to work indoors and outdoors and in noisy, busy environments. Term of employment is at-will.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made)
- Complete state-required physical examination for Bus Drivers (after employment offer is made)
- Valid CDL license with required endorsements
- Meet all State requirements for Bus Drivers, including Defensive Driving, CPR and First Aid Certification
- At least one year experience in driving some type of motor vehicle (which may be a private automobile), including experience throughout each of the four seasons
- Successfully complete behind-the-wheel training
- Desire to continue career improvements by enhance skills and job performance
