Job Summary
Conduct safe and efficient transportation of students with special needs by checking vehicle restraints, adjusting equipment, and operating side lifts for wheelchairs and car seats. Collaborate with drivers to maintain discipline, assist in emergencies, and manage route information and student IEPs. Complete all required safety and training sessions while complying with Charlotte County School Board policies and state regulations. Maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, and the public. Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ability and willingness to carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to understand students with special needs
- Demonstrates an aptitude / competence for the work to be performed
- Ability to assist physically handicapped students (braces, wheelchairs, crutches, car seats, etc.)
- Ability and willingness to pursue training in ESE and pre-K field
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
