Substitute Building Administrator

Job Summary

Lead the school learning organization by creating a climate conducive to continuous improvement of student achievement and social, emotional, and behavioral development. Establish positive school/community relationships, incorporate ethical principles in decision-making, and treat all members with fairness and respect. Effectively communicate using consensus building and conflict resolution techniques while leading stakeholders in developing and evaluating the school improvement plan. Monitor student achievement progress, prepare required reports and documentation, and manage the school budget and accounts. Guide curriculum delivery, participate in instructional decision-making, and oversee student co-curricular activities. Maintain a safe learning environment, respond to emergencies according to protocol, and work with district personnel on plant, food service, and transportation functions. Manage bargained agreements and participate in child study and IEP meetings as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's of Educational Administration
  • certification as an Iowa 7-12, or K-12 principal and evaluator approval licensure
  • Administrative experience preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, reports, regulations, etc.
  • Ability to effectively write reports and communications to administrators, colleagues, parents, students and staff
  • Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and reporting documents that assist with the computation of data
  • Ability to solve problems effectively
  • Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, community members, staff and students
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Must be able to successfully use, maintain, and manipulate Microsoft Office Professional Software (Excel, Access, Power Point and Word), Internet technology, and Outlook email software
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 - 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet
