Job Summary
Substation Senior Engineer responsible for the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction support, and commissioning/startup through energization. Leads development of physical and electrical design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications. Provides autonomous QA/QC in primary substation design areas, mentors less experienced engineers, and coordinates tasks with SME groups (Distribution/Transmission Studies, Grounding, Protection/relay coordination, Civil, SCADA/Communication, Transmission & Distribution, Environmental Planning, Surveying, ROW, Project Management). Travel may be required. Requires a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years’ experience; PE license preferred. Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years' project and design engineering experience
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- strong organization and planning skills
- ability to work in a team environment
- commitment to quality and accuracy
- willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
- PE license is preferred
- advanced knowledge of power engineering principles
- expertise in applicable codes, standards and design tools
- ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team
- experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus
- subject to client-mandated drug and background checking
- occasional travel/driving
