Job Summary
Champion safety in the field by observing, coaching, and taking action to avert safety-related incidents. Conduct field observations to assure compliance with OSHA regulations and Utility Company safety rules. Perform close call/good catch investigations and ongoing accident investigations while auditing JSA/JHA's daily and as tasks change. Conduct site visits, Pre Construction/Safety Kickoff meetings, and safety stand downs to set safe work expectations. Monitor contractor skills, mental and physical states, and public exposure to address all project safety and environmental hazards. Ensure crews comply with mandated safety training and participate in design constructability reviews.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Ten (10) years' experience in a Safety Specialist or similar role
- Five (5) years' of that experience in the Electric Utility industry (Transmission or Distribution)
- Ability to interpret and cite OSHA regulations
- Ability to provide guidance to construction crews and upper management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace
- OSHA 30 certification
- Ability to influence others about the importance of safety by using passion, knowledge and skills
Desired Qualifications
- COSS, CUSP-Certified Utility Safety certification
- OSHA 500 certification
