Job Summary
Champion safety in the field by observing, coaching, and taking action to avert safety-related incidents while conducting field observations to assure compliance with OSHA regulations and Utility Company safety rules. Lead close call/good catch investigations, audit Job Safety Analysis documents daily, and conduct pre-construction safety kickoffs to outline contractor expectations. Set safe work expectations, monitor contractor skills and mental states, and address all project hazards through regular safety stand downs and tailboard conferences. Ensure crews adhere to mandated training for substation de-energized work and grounding procedures. This role emphasizes experience working in electric utility substations to influence others on the importance of safety using passion and technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Ten (10) years' experience in a Safety Specialist or similar role
- Five (5) years' of that experience in the Electric Utility industry (Transmission or Distribution)
- Ability to interpret and cite OSHA regulations
- Ability to provide guidance to construction crews and upper management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace
- OSHA 30 certification
Desired Qualifications
- COSS, CUSP-Certified Utility Safety certification
- OSHA 500 certification
