Job Summary
Conduct conceptual and detailed high-voltage and medium-voltage substation protection and control design for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients. Develop protection packages, relay one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawing packages while coordinating with cross-discipline teams. Perform quality control reviews, create bills of materials, and lead client meetings related to protection and control design. Support commissioning activities, relay testing, troubleshooting, and energization planning. Assume the role of technical lead on projects with limited guidance and provide mentorship to junior engineers. This role is based in Kimley-Horn's Chicago office and requires 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in substation design
- This is not a remote position
- Must be available for on-site work in Chicago, Illinois
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license, or ability to obtain within 12 months
