Job Summary
Lead execution of high-complexity substation projects, including greenfield sites, system expansions, and automation overhauls, from concept through commissioning. Take ownership of the full project lifecycle by managing scope, schedule, and budget while overseeing engineering, quality assurance, and risk management. Serve as the primary client contact, translating goals into actionable plans and coordinating multidisciplinary teams of electrical, civil, and structural engineers. Contribute to proposals and business development while ensuring designs align with NEC, NESC, and safety protocols. Mentor junior staff and represent the organization in industry committees. This role supports FirstEnergy infrastructure projects and requires a PE license, 12+ years of substation experience, and proficiency with CAD systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 12+ years of experience in substation engineering, design, or consulting environments
- Valid driver's license
- Proficiency with engineering design tools and a strong understanding of CAD systems
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including NEC and NESC
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (state-specific licensure or ability to obtain)
