Job Summary
Substation Project Manager responsible for overseeing the conceptual through energization design and delivery of substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support. Manages scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, executing, monitoring and reporting of substation projects, coordinating a multi-disciplinary team (design engineers, drafters, support staff) and interfacing with clients and internal subject-matter groups to ensure high-quality project execution and timely delivery. Provides technical mentorship, leads QC procedures, and communicates with groups such as Distribution/Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, SCADA/Telecommunications, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/ROW, and PM/Controls; occasional travel and potential for remote/hybrid work for highly experienced candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of project engineering experience
- 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- strong organization and planning skills
- commitment to quality and accuracy
- willingness and ability to meet fast-paced project schedules
- PE license and PMP certification preferred
- advanced knowledge of power engineering principles, codes, standards and design tools
- ability to direct and oversee multiple technical disciplines in completion of substation projects
- may be subject to client-mandated drug and background checks
- occasional travel/driving required
