Job Summary
Substation Project Engineer needed to help start and grow a Nebraska office. Responsibilities include conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization. Engage in development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications. Support project management functions, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, mentor design staff, and oversee design engineers and drafters. Collaborate with multiple discipline groups (Distribution/Transmission Studies, Grounding, Protection, Civil, SCADA/Communication, Environmental Planning, Surveying, ROW, and Project Management/Controls) to deliver best-in-class projects. Occasional travel required; Office in Nebraska (Columbus/Omaha/Lincoln). PE license preferred; sponsorship not required for visa status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6+ years of project and design engineering experience
- ability to work in a team environment
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- commitment to quality and accuracy
- PE license preferred
- eligibility to work without sponsorship (no H-1B sponsorship required)
- experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus
- occasional travel/driving required
