Job Summary

Substation design responsibilities include the design and preparation of substation drawings such as One Line and Three Line diagrams, general arrangements and sections, grounding plans, conduit plans, control cubicle layouts, cable trays, lighting, grounding, low-voltage panels, protective schemes, and SCADA/communication diagrams. The role involves developing bill of materials from design criteria, coordinating with protection & controls and drafting teams to ensure deliverables meet client standards, participating in client meetings and site data gathering, incorporating vendor information, applying QA/QC processes, and mentoring junior designers. The position emphasizes remote work, proactive self-management, continuous improvement, and collaboration to deliver high-quality engineering services.

Required Qualifications

  • An associate’s degree in Drafting/Design or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in substation design with Inventor 3D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and MicroStation
  • Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of substation design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical drawings and models
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to technical design
