Job Summary

Develop physical layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, and construction drawing packages for high-voltage and medium-voltage substation projects. Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV substation physical/electrical design, including one-line diagrams, three-line drawings, and plan-section drawings. Execute engineering studies and calculations, conduct quality control reviews, and create or review bills of materials and proposals. Assume the role of technical lead on projects with limited guidance, plan client meetings, and support less experienced engineers through technical guidance and training. Coordinate closely with protection, control, civil, and structural disciplines to meet project objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in substation design
  • This is not a remote position
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license, or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation and inventor
  • Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection studies, and lighting studies
