Substation Owner's Engineer

Job Summary
Provide senior-level technical leadership for substation and transmission projects by independently planning, executing, and overseeing complex engineering assignments. Evaluate and develop engineering solutions, review design deliverables, and prepare technical specifications while ensuring compliance with codes, OSHA, FERC, NERC, and CIP standards. Mentor junior engineers, coordinate with clients and contractors, and support cost-benefit analyses, bid evaluations, and procurement activities. Analyze complex technical issues to recommend innovative, cost-effective solutions throughout project execution from planning through construction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of substation engineering experience (345 kV and above)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong expertise in utility substation design, equipment, protection & control, metering, and SCADA systems
- Experience supporting projects from concept through construction and closeout
- Excellent technical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient with industry-standard engineering software
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
