Job Summary
Substation Inspector/Observer responsible for on-site inspections of contracted construction projects, ensuring work aligns with drawings and specifications. Duties include observing drilling piers and foundations, reporting daily inspection findings, reviewing discrepancies, maintaining contracts and permits, and upholding safety, with emphasis on professional communication with contractors and accurate documentation. Requires five years of experience in substation facilities and foundations, proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office, and Certificates as applicable. Field/mobile-app familiarity (ArcGIS, Field Maps) preferred; FHWA NHI 132070 and ACI Grade I certifications are helpful. This is a project-specific, non-exempt/hourly CONTRACT role expected to perform in-person field inspections in Littleton, Colorado.
Required Qualifications
- Five years minimum working knowledge of Substation facilities and foundations
- Previous substation construction and inspection experience preferred
- Journeyman Lineman experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of construction principles and techniques, including construction specifications, drawings and conformance requirements
- Proficient in Project Management applications (e.g., Procore)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to perform basic web-based tasks
- Basic understanding of field mobile applications (e.g., ArcGIS, Field Maps, etc.) preferred
- Possess and maintain any necessary certificates
- FHWA – NHI – 132070 (Drilled Shaft Inspector’s Qualification), helpful but not required
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Grade I Certification or Higher, helpful but not required
- Ability to travel and work in field environments
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
