Job Summary
Oversee and conduct on-site inspections of substation construction to ensure work aligns with approved drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include observing drilling pier foundations, slab on grade, monolithic foundations, access roads, yard rock, ground grid installation, substation steel, and wiring; producing daily detailed inspection reports; communicating clearly with contractors; reviewing discrepancies with relevant parties; maintaining contract documents and updated drawings; and enforcing a safety-conscious work environment with corrective actions as needed. The role requires strong inspection and technical oversight capabilities, proficiency with project-management tools (e.g., Procore), and familiarity with field-mobile applications. Certifications related to inspection and testing (e.g., FHWA/NHI 132070, ACI Grade I or higher) are advantageous, along with journeyman lineman experience and related construction knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Five years minimum working knowledge of Substation facilities and foundations
- Journeyman Lineman experience preferred
- Proficient in Project Management applications (e.g., Procore)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding of field mobile applications (e.g., ArcGIS, Field Maps)
- Possess and maintain any necessary certificates
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Grade I Certification or Higher
- FHWA – NHI – 132070 (Drilled Shaft Inspector’s Qualification) helpful but not required
