Job Summary
Substation Foreman role requiring 100% travel within Texas to install, inspect, maintain, and repair high-voltage substation equipment. responsibilities include performing testing (insulation resistance, relay, CT/PT, circuit breaker, transformer testing), commissioning startup support for substation expansions, interpreting One-Line Diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring/Protection & Control drawings, and ensuring safety, outage planning, and emergency response activities. Requires 10+ years of substation experience, proficiency with rigid/tubular/strain bus and associated components, and a valid driver’s license. NETA Certification and Electrical Journeyman License are preferred; experience with SEL/ABB/GE/Siemens relays and 69kV–500kV+ substations is also preferred. The role includes company vehicle and per diem, significant overtime, and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 10+ years of substation, switchyard, utility, or power systems experience
- Experience with high-voltage electrical systems
- Must meet company vehicle driving standards per Motor Vehicle Safety Policy
- Must successfully complete company assessment program
- Valid Driver’s License
- Hands-on experience with rigid bus, tubular bus, bus bar installation, bus supports and insulators, grounding systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Experience performing electrical testing and troubleshooting
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
Desired Qualifications
- NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV)
- Electrical Journeyman License
- Experience with SEL, ABB, GE, or Siemens protective relays
- Commissioning and startup experience
- Experience working in substations from 69kV through 500kV+
- Substation testing and commissioning experience
