Job Summary
Prepare materials, drawings, and substation diagrams to create work plans for field crews. Acquire field data in electrical substations and along transmission line corridors by measuring conductors and equipment using proprietary geospatial software. Interpret image files, validate measurements, and verify conductor type analysis and ampacity ratings while troubleshooting issues on the fly. Interface with field personnel and clients to ensure accurate data collection and follow safety procedures. Work up to 90% in the field across the continental US, primarily in the mid-west, south, and southeast.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to travel and work in the field, up to 90% of the time
- Ability to work in the field and carry 30lbs
- Ability to read and interpret substation schematic diagrams
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem solve on the fly
- Advanced and professional writing skills
- FAA Part-107 pilot license or willingness to obtain it
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years of work as a substation technician, lineman, or system operator is a plus
- Experience working with any type of Geographic Information System or Geodatabase files is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge of NERC FAC-008 and 009 is a plus
- Experience with field to office tasks such as downloading files, and equipment interconnections
- Experience working with Excel files and other database format
