Job Summary
Substation Engineering roles open for multiple positions in Forest Park (Metro Atlanta), GA. Hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one day telecommute; travel up to 25% and potential relocation assistance. Roles include Substation Physical Designer/Engineer and Substation Control Estimator Designer/Engineer, focused on design, estimation, and/or construction support for Transmission and Distribution substations. Responsibilities span producing engineering drawings and specifications, cost estimation, project scoping, CAD-based design (AutoCAD, 2D), use of TEAMS/MAXIMO/SCST Vault, site visits, and coordination across design disciplines. Requirements emphasize engineering education (Bachelor’s preferred or equivalent experience) and proficiency in CAD tools, MS Office, and related standards; experience with substation design, protection & control, and construction practices is desirable. Strong communication, teamwork, safety mindset, and customer focus are highlighted as behavioral expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred (Engineer)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology (Designer)
- Bachelor’s Degree (non-engineering) with min. 5 years relevant industry experience (Designer)
- Associate Degree with min 5 years relevant industry experience (Designer)
- No Degree with min. 8 years relevant industry experience (Designer)
- Experience in Transmission and/or Distribution Substation Operations for an electric power utility company is preferred
- Experience in Substation Engineering, Field Services, Switchboard Wiring, Power Delivery, Substation Maintenance, or Substation Construction is preferred
- Experience in project development and cost estimating is preferred
- Experience with document management & estimating systems (TEAMS, STOMP, MAXIMO, SCST Vault) is preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office is required
- Knowledge of substation protection & control design, and related testing/commissioning is a plus
- Knowledge of NEC/IEEE standards and OSHA practices is preferred
- 3D modeling software (SDS Inventor) is a plus
- Substation design/physical and control design knowledge
