Job Summary
As a Substation Engineer, you will lead the design of high-voltage substations and supervise engineering professionals. Responsibilities include creating layouts, performing grounding and shielding analyses, preparing project specifications, and executing various electrical designs and studies. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, 5–10 years of relevant experience, and PE registration (or a willingness to obtain it). The role requires thorough knowledge of NEC/NESC codes and proficiency with power utilization equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or a related field
- 5–10 years of experience in high-voltage electric substation design
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) and willingness to obtain additional licenses in other states
- Detailed knowledge of NEC and NESC code requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the utility industry
- Strong understanding of power utilization equipment, including switchgear, protective relays, breakers, transformers, motors, and generators
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
