Job Summary
Senior Substation Engineer leading design, construction, and oversight of complex substation and electrical power system projects. Roles include coordinating with consultants, developers, customers, and government entities; performing protection analysis and fault studies; preparing conceptual design documents and specifications; mentoring less experienced engineers; and ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions aligned with long-term objectives. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and a Texas PE license with a minimum of eight years of related experience, plus a valid driver’s license. Proficiency in substation design and construction, AutoCAD, ASPEN, and knowledge of NERC PRC standards are essential, along with strong communication and project-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas
- Minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in substation design and construction
- Knowledge of power system materials and NERC PRC standards
- Ability to read and develop engineering schematics and drawings
- Experience with AutoCAD and ASPEN
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to analyze problems and make sound engineering decisions
