Job Summary
Design new high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems by preparing specifications for major electrical power equipment procurement and coordinating design reviews at client and vendor offices. Lead project teams to visualize parts in 3D, produce technical plans and blueprints, and verify designs at construction sites. Utilize modern tools, automation, and agentic AI to solve engineering problems, automate calculations, and reduce rework while maintaining strong engineering judgment. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and offers a relocation package for eligible candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Strong preference in an Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering degree
- Coursework including Coding
- Coursework including 3D Modeling/Design
- Experience using agentic AI
- An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness or ability to solve problems using modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Ability to build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation
- Strong engineering judgment and verification of results
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems
- Expectation of spending three days a week in the office
- Willingness or ability to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Desired Qualifications
- Strong preference in an Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering degree
- Coursework including Coding
- Coursework including 3D Modeling/Design
- Experience using agentic AI
- BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training
- Familiarity in designing or developing AI applications and/or agents
- Related engineering internship or co-op work experience
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems
