Job Summary
Substation Design Engineer responsible for conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement and commissioning/startup support through energization. Will develop physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications; collaborate under the oversight of a project engineer with designers, drafters, and cross-discipline teams (Distribution/Transmission Studies, Grounding, Protection/Relay Coordination, Civil, SCADA/Communication, Transmission & Distribution). Requires strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to quality; occasional travel; PE licensure progress encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of design engineering experience
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- strong organization and planning skills
- ability to work in a team environment
- commitment to quality and accuracy
- willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
- progress towards PE licensure encouraged
- fundamental knowledge of power engineering principals and applicable codes and standards
- may be subject to client-mmandated drug and background checking
- occasional travel/driving required
