Job Summary
Maintain a caseload of 12-15 participants by performing intake interviews, completing bio-psycho-social assessments, and establishing supportive relationships to promote engagement in recovery. Provide individual, group, and family counseling using trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches while delivering psychoeducation on substance use, co-occurring disorders, and relapse prevention. Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team by attending meetings, making referrals, and providing crisis intervention during emergencies. Complete timely progress notes, discharge summaries, and required reporting in compliance with agency policies and regulations. Work 8:30am-5pm hours at the Valley Cottage location.
Required Qualifications
- Current CASAC or CASAC-T credential
- Ability to work independently while functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong skills in boundary-setting, limit-setting, and crisis management
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, evidence-based practices, and recovery supports
- Ability to use electronic health record systems for documentation and other electronic systems for communication (e.g. email, Teams, Zoom, etc.)
- Bachelors degree or Associates degree with experience
- Valid NYS driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience providing substance use counseling, ideally in community-based or mental health settings
- Bilingual Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Yiddish speaking
