Job Summary
The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Specialist will focus on expanding access to medications for substance use disorders, particularly increasing buprenorphine use in primary care. Responsibilities include identifying strategies for prescribing buprenorphine, developing training programs for primary care providers, and addressing regulatory barriers to treatment. Candidates must have a valid Pennsylvania medical license, a DEA waiver for buprenorphine, and at least two years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an active license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania (MD or DO), nurse practitioner (NP), or physician assistant (PA)
- Valid waiver from the DEA to prescribe buprenorphine
- Two years experience treating patients with buprenorphine for opioid use disorder
- Certified to provide the in-person component of the buprenorphine waiver course
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of substance use medical terminology
- Knowledge of drug treatment programs and recovery services
- Familiarity with drug policies at local, state and federal levels
- Ability to analyze data and write project proposals
