Substance Use Disorder Counselor (GBS)

Job Summary
Conduct client assessments and screening within established time-lines, incorporating information from referral packets and collateral resources to complete case management assessments. Monitor and coordinate individualized treatment plans while assisting clients in achieving independence through support and training in personal community resources. Reinforce progress and serve as a role model for implementing team-identified objectives, including basic living skills to maintain a drug-free lifestyle. Maintain continuous relationships with clients to alleviate crisis situations, providing ongoing assessment, planning, linking, monitoring, advocacy, and re-assessment. Document all assessments, treatment provided, and major communications clearly in appropriate formats while participating in treatment plan review staffings. Work closely with Department of Corrections agents to ensure quality case planning and supervise clients within the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in a Criminal Justice or Human Services related field
- Licensed by the State of WI as a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC)
- One (1) year experience counseling correctional clients utilizing cognitive behavioral methodology
- Trained in Motivational Interviewing
- Documented completed training in an AODA curriculum within the past three (3) years
