Job Summary
Odyssey House Utah is seeking a Substance Use Assessment Clinician credentialed as an LSUDC or LASUDC to join our Admissions team. In this role you will serve as the clinical entry point for individuals seeking treatment, conducting comprehensive substance use evaluations across adult, youth, parent-child, and co-occurring populations. You will perform ASAM 3rd Edition evaluations, formulate DSM-5 SUD diagnoses with severity, and document to support medical necessity, payer authorizations, and compliance. You will work within your LSUDC/LASUDC scope with oversight from licensed clinicians (LCSW/CSW) who provide consultation and co-signature on diagnostic impressions outside the LSUDC/LASUDC scope. Essential duties include biopsychosocial assessments, co-occurring mental health screening, suicide risk screening, insurance-ready documentation, and coordination with courts, parole, child welfare, and other partners within HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements. The role emphasizes collaboration, clinical supervision, and adherence to Joint Commission, Medicaid, and internal QA standards in a fast-paced admissions environment. Licensure as LSUDC or LASUDC is required; master’s-level LASUDC preferred and relevant experience in SUD assessment, DSM-5, ASAM, and payer processes is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Active Utah LSUDC or LASUDC licensure in good standing
- Master’s-level LASUDC preferred; bachelor’s LSUDC with strong assessment experience considered
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within onboarding timelines
- Strong knowledge of DSM-5 criteria for Substance Use Disorders
- Proficiency with ASAM 3rd Edition assessments
- Experience administering PHQ-9, GAD-7, ACE, C-SSRS, CANS, OQ-45.2, LSI:R-SV
- Ability to write clear, clinically sound assessments meeting payer, court, and regulatory standards
- HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 applied to SUD records
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and accept clinical oversight
- Experience with diverse populations (adults, youth, parents, and co-occurring disorders)
- Lived recovery experience welcomed and valued
- Pre-employment screenings including background checks and driving record where applicable
