Job Summary
Substance Abuse Counselor provides assessments and develops individualized treatment plans, conducts individual and group counseling, and maintains confidential client records under HIPAA. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, facilitates workshops, coordinates with community resources, and participates in ongoing training to enhance clinical skills in an CAMS-certified, substance-use-treatment setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Valid Substance Abuse Professional license/certification or related preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct counseling or facilitation experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting
- Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and create a supportive, non-judgmental environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and handle challenging situations with professionalism and grace
