Job Summary
Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective substance abuse program at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, with emphasis on awareness, prevention, staff training, and networking with community resources in compliance with ACA standards, MTC, and MDOC directives. Develop and implement systems to coordinate substance abuse prevention with other facility programs; assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems and develop plans in collaboration with counselors, instructors, and the mental health team; document assessments and plans in inmate medical records; provide ongoing staff training focused on substance abuse awareness, identification, reporting, and team-building; deliver substance abuse and tobacco cessation classes and other prevention sessions for inmates and staff; promote awareness of substance abuse issues facility-wide; build linkages with community resources for services; model positive social skills and intervene when inappropriate behavior is observed; maintain accountability of inmates and property and adhere to safety practices; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminology or related field
- Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor in the state of Mississippi
- Valid driver’s license in the state of Mississippi with acceptable driving record
