Job Summary
Develop and implement a system to promote the coordination of substance abuse prevention with other facility programs. Assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems, develop modification plans, and ensure documentation is maintained in medical records. Provide ongoing comprehensive training for all staff members in identification, reporting, and counseling skills. Conduct substance abuse and tobacco cessation classes, group educational sessions, and peer support activities for inmates and staff. Develop linkages with community resources and encourage facility-wide awareness of substance abuse issues. Maintain accountability of inmates and property while adhering to safety practices. This role reports to the deputy warden of programs at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, emphasizing prevention, staff training, and networking with community resources in compliance with ACA and MDOC directives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminology or related field
- Licensed substance abuse counselor in the state of Mississippi
- Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of substance abuse treatment experience
