Job Summary
Coordinate the delivery of counseling services to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction while assisting in planning chemical dependency counseling programs. Conduct comprehensive evaluations using valid measurement tools to assess recovery needs and re-offense risk, then develop Individual Progress Summaries for each offender. Provide counseling and recovery skills training, participate in offender orientation and group sessions, and maintain records to compile statistical feedback and submit reports. Supervise staff by instructing others in program methods and procedures. Full-time Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED)
- Two (2) years full-time, wage-earning experience in substance abuse treatment or substance abuse education
- Current valid license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
- Current valid certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals
- Current qualifying credential to conduct counseling in a treatment environment
- A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record
- Successful completion of annual, TDCJ approved background checks
- Successful completion of in-service training requirements
- Maintenance of a valid license or certification for continued employment
