Job Summary
As a Substance Abuse Counselor/Counselor Intern, you will provide individual, family, and group counseling to clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders, develop and implement recovery plans, conduct comprehensive assessments, and coordinate services within a multi-disciplinary team. The role requires knowledge of evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders, ability to advocate on behalf of individuals, and solid engagement skills to motivate clients. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree, relevant licensure (CADC or CADC-intern), and experience with behavioral health populations.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) pursuant to N.J.S.A; CADC, preferred
- CADC-intern status within NJ Consumer Affairs
- Must be in good standing; actively pursuing, or willing to pursue, Addiction course curriculum to qualify for CADC certification as pursuant to N.J.A.C Title 13 Law and Public Safety Chapter 34C
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Pre-employment drug screening
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology or related field preferred
- One year of experience working with behavioral health populations, preferred
