Job Summary
Provide behavioral health and substance use treatment services to adults and families, including basic living-skills training, psychoeducational services, medication monitoring, crisis intervention, and case-management coordination. Consult with clinical staff on treatment approaches and maintain cooperative relationships with community partners, probation departments, and authorized agencies. Prepare accurate client records and billing documentation while ensuring compliance with Alabama Department of Mental Health, Medicaid, and agency policies. Participate in required training, staff meetings, and general administrative assignments. Requires a QSAP III credential or path to certification within 30 months, a bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field, and CPR/First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must qualify as a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional III (QSAP III) under applicable Alabama Department of Mental Health and Alabama Medicaid requirements
- A bachelor's degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university in psychology, social work, community counseling, rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or another behavioral health field with equivalent clinical coursework
- Willingness and ability to participate in at least one hour of individual supervision each week with a certified or licensed QSAP I until the required substance abuse counseling credential is obtained
- Ability to obtain an approved substance abuse counselor certification within 30 months of hire through a qualifying credentialing organization
- If personally in recovery, a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification
- An unrestricted and unexpired Alabama driver's license and the ability to meet the company's vehicle-insurability requirements if the position involves transporting clients
